About event
Today, education is confronted more than ever with the question of how it should respond to profound technological changes. This is particularly clear in creative training: Generative AI is already changing how we design, learn and work - and thus also what is considered creative competence.
At the same time, how we perceive and classify information is also changing. A lot of things reach us today via social media and algorithmically controlled platforms. What does this mean for education when systems have a say in what becomes visible, gets attention and appears relevant? What role do economic interests, data-based business models and a growing flood of content play in this, which is often aimed more at reach than at human needs?
Especially for the creative industries, this raises key questions: What should people learn and deepen in the future when tools, processes and job profiles change so quickly? What skills do we need to deal constructively with this change? And how can education not only react, but actively shape it?
In the workshop we work with methods from future research to explore these questions together. The aim is not to predict the future, but rather to systematically examine possible developments. We look at relevant key factors and their connections and use them to design desirable future scenarios.
The workshop therefore directly addresses the question of future key competencies. Because while we think about future skills in the creative industry, we are also practicing one of them very practically: Futures Literacy - the ability to understand the future as an open space of possibilities and to use it productively for decisions in the present.
The workshop takes place together with students from the University of Applied Arts Vienna and brings together different perspectives, experiences and approaches.
The venue is the loft of the Design Thinking Space in Vienna: an interactive seminar room on the 8th floor with a vision suitable framework for joint future thinking.
