Experience the Eurovision song Contest like you've never seen it before. Join us on a 90-minute journey through time through the queer, political and cultural history of the world's largest music event.

Just in time for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna, the Qwien is opening its doors for a very special exhibition: “United by Queerness”. In this 90-minute exhibition tour, we delve deep into the ESC cosmos - far beyond the wind machines and sequins.

Why you shouldn't miss this exhibition tour:

The ESC has always been more than just a music show. It is a seismograph for social changes, a geopolitical mirror and above all: a safe space and place of identification for the LGBTIQA+ community.

In 90 minutes we discover together:

  • Seven decades of contemporary history: From the Cold War to the emancipation movements of the 90s to the current debates and controversies of the ESC 2026.
  • Legendary exhibits: Marvel at iconic costumes, the original winner's medal from 1961, the famous "Equality" T-shirt from Philipp Hansa and many other rare gems and unique items from ESC history.
  • Background & anecdotes: Based on the expertise of the curators Marco Schreuder and Alkis Vlassakakis (known from the podcast Merci, Chérie), we provide you with insider knowledge, touching community stories and exciting details and background information on 70 years of the Eurovision Song Contest.

Key information about the tour:

  • Duration: approx. 90 minutes
  • Location: Qwien – Center for Queer History and Culture, Vienna
