Maximus was Rome's best general until the young emperor Commodus decided that having his dad and hero in the same room was too much for his ego. Instead of retirement on the farm, Maxim is faced with a murdered family, the status of a slave and a new career in the then show business. While he is serving tigers and soaked colleagues in the arena, he has only one plan in his head: to return to Rome. It's an epic carving about how even if you're sold into slavery, you can still have better charisma and hairdo than the entire senate combined. Here, Gladiator simply shows that when a guy in sandals gets mad, the whole empire shakes. Three drinks to go with it. 🗡️🏟️🍸

About the film:
Year 180. The general of the Roman legions, Maximus, is to become the protector of Rome at the request of the sick emperor Marcus Aurelius. However, the emperor's son Commodus commits parricide so that he can sit on the vacated throne himself. Maximus escapes death, but ends up being sold into slavery. As a gladiator, he returns to Rome to avenge injustice and help overthrow the ruthless dictator with the help of Commodus' sister Lucilla... The narrative film directed by Ridley Scott is based on real events. The development of digital effects brought ancient Rome back to life, including the majestic Colosseum, without the need for expensive buildings and thousands of extras. However, this did not detract from the narrative magnificence of the depicted events. Both the opening battle in the Germanic forests and the subsequent gladiatorial fights abound in well-thought-out choreography and do not lack the necessary dynamics and persuasiveness.
