Guido is an Italian waiter with an inexhaustible supply of optimism who can make everyone laugh. But then the Second World War comes and he and his young son end up in a concentration camp, which is where the humor usually ends. But Guido decides not to spoil his son's childhood and tells him that the whole horror is just one big, complicated game for the main prize - a real tank. So while the horrors are happening around, Guido pretends that the guards are just strict judges and hunger is part of the scoring. The funniest movie about the biggest horror. About the film:
The year is 1939. Italian waiter Guido Orefice, brimming with energy and bursting with crazy ideas, arrives from the countryside to the big city. At first sight, he falls in love with the charming teacher Dora. She already has a suitor, but he will do everything to save her from marrying an unloved bureaucrat. He wins her love and they get married. Their son Giosué is born. After five years of happy marriage, Guido is taken to a concentration camp with his son because of his Jewish origin. In order to hide the shocking circumstances from the little boy and to protect him from the horrors of Nazism, he pretends that everything around is just a game, prepared for his son's birthday. A game at the end of which a great reward awaits both of them... The film Life is Beautiful from 1997 is the author's work of the well-known Italian comedian Roberto Benigni. In addition to the script, which he participated in together with Vincenzo Cerami, he also directed and portrayed the main character of the waiter Guido.
