About event

Get ready for a raw onslaught of dark nihilism from the American South. After years, Eyehategod returns to Prague - a band that has gained a cult status in almost four decades of existence and ranks among the founders of sludge metal.
The suffocating mud of the Mississippi Delta seeps into the sound of this decadent, sonic mass; slow, heavy and jagged riffs with a dirty, overdriven sound roll between walls of wailing feedback. Blues motifs emerge above the heavy-toned rhythms, moving somewhere on the edge of heart collapse, as an echo of the old days of Muddy Waters or Howlin' Wolf. From the floored melodies, a vocal sounds like a strangled scream from a throat that has long been gripped by the invisible hand of fate.

The band is a raw reflection of the city that formed it - New Orleans. Cities of contrasts, not only the cradle of jazz, blues and carnivals, but also a place marked by poverty, racism, addictions and violence. It was from this environment - from crumbling neighborhoods, humid heat, drug-soaked ghetto streets and an ever-present sense of hopelessness - that their distinctive expression emerged, influencing generations of bands to come. On the one hand, the inspiration of Black Sabbath and Melvins resonates here, on the other, a tangible imprint of hardcore punk and southern rock and blues - all of this merged into a single toxic cocktail, mixed from the sludge clinging to the very bottom of life.

Experience this rawness, loudness and intensity for yourself in the Subzero club environment and accompanied by local bands:

Brace yourself for a raw onslaught of dark nihilism from the American South. Eyehategod return to Prague after many years — a band that, over nearly four decades, has carved out a cult status and stands among the founders of sludge metal.

The suffocating mud of the Mississippi Delta seeps into the sound of this decadent sonic mass; slow, heavy, jagged riffs with a filthy, overdriven tone surge between walls of shrieking feedback. Above the crushing rhythm section—teetering somewhere on the brink of cardiac collapse—blues motifs emerge like echoes of bygone days, recalling Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf. From the downtuned melodies claws a vocal that sounds like a strangled scream, torn from a throat long gripped by the invisible hand of doom.

The band is a raw reflection of the city that shaped them — New Orleans. A city of contrasts: not only the cradle of jazz, blues, and carnival, but also a place marked by poverty, racism, addiction, and violence. It is precisely from this environment — from crumbling neighborhoods, humid heat, drug-soaked streets of the ghettos, and the ever-present sense of hopelessness — that their singular expression emerged, influencing entire generations of bands. On one side, the resonance of Black Sabbath and Melvins; on the other, the palpable imprint of hardcore punk and Southern rock and blues—all fused into a single toxic cocktail, distilled from the sludge clinging to the very bottom of life.

Experience this rawness, volume, and intensity firsthand in the club setting of Subzero. Local supports for this nigt are:
