About event
🇪🇺 KKC Hviezda presents a new format of Europe events in Trenčín - a direct connection to European art, music and culture. Through concerts, exhibitions and meetings, we want to connect Trenčín with various European countries and bring authentic artistic experiences that reflect the diversity, traditions and contemporary work across the continent.
📍 The first stop will be Portugal and Spain. The evening will open the opening of the exhibition 17 sustainable development goals in illustrations, and the musical highlight will be a concert by a prominent figure in Portuguese world music, Daniel Pereira Cristo.
🇵🇹 Daniel Pereira Cristo is a Portuguese musician, singer and composer who distinguished himself in the field of traditional Portuguese music and instruments. He is recognized for his lyrics, music and playing of traditional Portuguese stringed instruments. His debut album "Cavaquinho Cantado" won the prestigious Carlos Paredes Award in 2018. In 2022, he released his second album "De Pernas para o Ar", which features more singer-songwriter and existentialist approaches, while maintaining his commitment to cultural roots and traditional instruments, especially the cavaquino and viola braguesa. His music reflects a passion for Portuguese cultural identity and through this self-awareness he aims to promote tolerance, diversity and cultural plurality in Portugal and the world.
In Slovakia, Daniel will present his collection of traditional Portuguese stringed instruments alongside the musician Rodrigo Peixoto on guitar.
🇪🇸 The concert will be followed by a screening of the Spanish film Pájaros (Behind the Wings).
👥 The event was created in cooperation with the European Capital of Culture project Trenčín2026, the Embassy of Spain in Bratislava and the Embassy of Portugal in Bratislava.
