About event
Emotions as fate and their transformation in biography.
The liberating knowledge of the Gnostics
Contemporary psychology and neuroscience discovers much that was already contained in a different way in the ancient experience of the mystics of the West and the East. Gnostics speak of the seven archons that trap us in cycles of suffering and of liberating knowledge, in similar language to Buddhists. From the point of view of psychology, it is emotional patterns that bind us to fate. The seven basic emotions can be transformed into higher or lower emotions. The transforming ingredient is the cognitive component – the choice of value perspective that we adopt at midday in our thirties. It depends on it whether at the end of life we move towards inner freedom and integrity, or towards the disintegration of the personality and despair.
Emil Páleš characterizes his work as sophiology, which is an effort to synthesize various sources of knowledge (revelation, reason and sensory experience). It bridges science, art and religious traditions, looking for golden grains of truth in ancient wisdom. You can find more about his work at www.sophia.sk
