"An original and captivating production full of intertwined, unpredictable events, during which the destinies of the characters are connected in an unexpected way."
Inventory of 533 unrealized, often unrealizable works of art; short affirmative statements in the first person; the author's last text reporting on the life of his friend who committed suicide (ten days after submitting the manuscript to the publisher, the author himself took his own life). Three essential books by the French photographer, conceptual artist and writer Édouard Levy (1965-2007), as well as his mysterious and unique personality, are the material of Viktoria Vášová's new production, which was presented at MeetFactory as an adaptation of Barnes' Roar of Time. The author's simple, suggestive, at the same time subversive, provocative and radical literary style offers questions that are fittingly theatrical and scenically inspiring: Does a work of art arise through its physical realization, or already at the moment when it is mentally conceived? How does the artistic solitude in which a person, absorbed in his thinking, finds himself, contrasts with the work of the theater, which by its very nature is involved in collectivity and cooperation?
"Ten people talk about a certain man in the past tense without mentioning his name. Over the course of an hour, they discuss various topics related to him. The resulting montage alternates statements from one and another, sometimes contradicting each other. These testimonies make up an ambiguous portrait. Despite the large number of stories told, his identity remains unclear, his name and face unknown. It could be anyone. The director filmed ten of his friends answering questions about him. The assignment was: 'Speak about me in the third person. Imagine I've been dead for ten years.'"
