We invite you to the author's evening and the presentation of Dušan Mikušovič's new book The Sadist Valerián Čunderlík on Monday, June 8. from 18:00 to Košice Artfor on Hlavná ul. 87
The evening is moderated by reporter Dušan Karolyi.
How did the investigators uncover Čunderlík's crimes? How did they explain that he was able to torment, torture and humiliate his partners? And how is it possible that so many women succumbed to him and pledged their loyalty?
The historical true crime of reporter Dušan Mikušović is not a cheap description of violence. With an eye for detail, the author composes Čunderlík's life from archival materials, witness statements, investigative files, but also personal correspondence. The reader is guided by the mind of a person who hid the face of a cruel lover under the mask of elegance. This story will transport you to the period of the Slovak state and socialist Czechoslovakia, and will reveal the fate of the criminal who also inspired the authors of the Dunaj series, at your service.
Dušan Mikušovič (*1986) is a reporter for Denník N devoted to domestic news, politics, media, but also history. He is the author of Matovič books. Prime Minister in Sneakers (2021) and We Didn't Come to Kill (2024) and a three-time winner of the Journalist Award. He studied journalism and political science at the Masaryk University in Brno, in addition to media, he worked in an advertising agency as a copywriter.
His long-time hobby is history and reading contemporary newspapers, where he looks for unconventional stories from Czechoslovak history. Denník N is preparing the series Agents and Traitors, in which, using the stories of well-known and less well-known historical figures, we re-think who in our history - rightly or wrongly - we condemned as a traitor.
