About event
Dropkick Murphys will play in Areál 7 in Holešovice
Dropkick Murphys are returning to Prague after a concert in the packed Lucerna Great Hall. The American legends of Celtic punk will play on August 5, 2026 at Areál 7 in Prague's Holešovice and promise an evening full of unbridled energy, anthemic choruses and unadulterated concert euphoria.
Dropkick Murphys are the embodiment of the Boston rock and roll spirit. A band that rose from noisy clubs to the top of the world without losing touch with their roots. Since their formation in 1996, they have been one of the names of the punk rock scene, and their sound, combining the raw energy of punk with Irish folk and traditional instruments, has become their trademark. The music of Dropkick Murphys works as a soundtrack for late-night chanting in bars and tense moments during sports matches. Their songs are regularly played in hockey and baseball arenas around the world, and the band is inextricably linked to their hometown of Boston, including Fenway Park.
Dropkick Murphys discography is one of the most successful in the genre. Four consecutive albums debuted in the top ten of the US Billboard chart (Going Out In Style, Signed and Sealed in Blood, 11 Short Stories of Pain & Glory, Turn Up That Dial). The turning point of his career was the album The Warrior’s Code (2005) with the iconic song I’m Shipping Up To Boston, which became a worldwide hit and one of the most recognizable rock songs of the 21st century. In recent years, however, the band has also shown its quieter, acoustic side. The records This Machine Still Kills Fascists and Okemah Rising work with previously unpublished lyrics by Woody Guthrie, selected for Dropkick Murphys by his daughter Nora Guthrie. The result is a powerful, emotional fusion of folk tradition and the band's raw energy.
Over 25 years on the scene, Dropkick Murphys have built a global fan base - with more than half a billion streams, eight million records sold and sold-out concerts around the world. If the Dropkick Murphys are famous for anything, it's their intense live performances that have made them a fixture on world stages. Social involvement is also an integral part of their identity. Through The Claddagh Fund, they have been supporting projects aimed at helping children, veterans, health professionals and people struggling with addictions for a long time. The latest album For The People confirms that Dropkick Murphys are still a band with a clear attitude and a strong voice, not afraid to speak out loud about current issues. Even after almost three decades, Dropkick Murphys remain not only a musical phenomenon, but also a symbol of intransigence, cohesion and authenticity.
