About event
Can you seriously get a PhD in popular music? Yes! And then what do you do with it? A music comedy stand-up show.
Dr. Pop is a doctor for music. He treats with music samples and fascinating music facts. In his live program “Suspicious Hit,” Dr. Pop, what music can save a party, a relationship and even a life. The audience gets amazingly funny answers to questions like: What music stimulates the libido or the motivation to exercise? Which music makes you smart and which makes you mentally deaf? Why do termites bite through wood twice as fast when they hear heavy metal? And why do ten people sit at the laptop and not one at the guitar to play a hit these days? Dr. Pop complements the last, missing Spotify playlist and musically rebels against the impending WiFi failure. In his show he fires off samples of familiar and new hits from music history - from hip hop, rock, pop, hits to classical and jazz. Dr. Pop makes you audible: there is the right hit for every situation in life.
Suspicious of a hit – the music comedy stand-up show for everyone who loves music.
About the person: Dr. Pop studied media studies and pop music in the world's four major pop music metropolises: Manchester, Liverpool, Paderborn and Detmold. He then completed his doctorate on the topics of terrorism and orientalism in popular music at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He was under police protection for six years. At first he thought it was because of the explosive power of his theses, but it was because Angela Merkel's private apartment was next door to his music institute. Dr. Pop is on stage, produces videos and can be heard as a radio comedian on WDR2, SWR3, 104.6 RTL and as a weekly columnist on RBB's radioeins. Appearances include NightWash, Quatsch Comedy Club, Cabaret Theater Wühlmäuse and the Charlottenburg Senior Center.
