About event
A fresh cultural emulsion for the young and fresh in spirit from 16 to 30 years old: a little exhibition, a little lecture, a little experiment. And especially fresh oxygen.💫 This time with Martin Charvát in the exhibition HIT BY NEWS.
👋🏻 Martin Charvát works at the Metropolitan University of Prague, where he is the head of the Center for the Study of Media Culture. He published a number of monographs and professional articles. Before his lecture, we will look together at the monumental exhibition HIT BY NEWS. Concrete works of art of the 20th and 21st centuries trace the tension and symbiosis between the approach of artists and the reality printed in various media.
Martin Charvát's lecture will focus on the dynamic relationship between modern art and emerging mass media of the first half of the 20th century. In the period of rapid technological development, the onset of propaganda and the transformation of public space, art ceases to be an isolated sphere - it enters newspapers, manifestos, posters, film and radio. On the tension between fascination with technology, political engagement and escape into imagery, we will observe how the avant-garde oscillates between building a new world and ironically questioning it.
DOXYGEN is lectures, workshops, discussions, creative workshops and anything in between. Contemporary art, contemporary phenomena, contemporary personalities and the contemporary moment. The format of the young generation to yourself.❤️
