About event

In the lecture by archaeologist and Egyptologist Veronika Verešová, we will take a look at royal palaces, temple sites, working-class neighborhoods and military fortresses and find out what cities and houses looked like in different periods of Egyptian history.

Looking at pyramids and monumental temples, we rarely realize that ancient Egypt was primarily a land of cities and people. Residential neighborhoods built from non-durable materials have been preserved only exceptionally, which is why urban life has long been on the fringes of research interest. Only in recent decades has archeology yielded a wealth of new knowledge about how the Egyptians really lived. The research of Slovak archaeologists and Egyptologists directly in the country on the Nile also contributed to this.

The event is free and takes place in the area Under the library at Klariská 16.
