About event
Screening of the documentary film and discussion
Come with the cameraman and director David Čálek and an international team of scientists on a pilgrimage to the heart of the Amazon rainforest in search of new treatment options for mental illnesses.
In a world where millions of people suffer from mental illnesses, an international team of scientists is looking for new ways to recovery. One in four people will experience some form of mental illness during their lifetime. Depression, anxiety and other mental health problems are not just individual problems – they are a reflection of the stressful and fast-changing pace of modern society. Tibor, Richard and Lucie have been struggling with depression for many years. Their journey was full of frustration and hopelessness. Similar to thousands of other patients, traditional antidepressants did not bring them any relief.
When it seemed that there was no possibility of change, a new hope appeared: ground-breaking research led by MUDr. Tomáš Páleníček and the international scientific team. Their goal is ambitious: to find out whether psychedelic substances can make a real difference in the lives of people with depression and open the door to new alternative methods of treatment. The results from the laboratories go to the heart of the Amazon rainforest to be verified. The experiences of the indigenous inhabitants there can represent a fundamental breakthrough in their research.
Length of the documentary: 84 minutes
Director: David Čálek
After the screening of the film, there will be a discussion with Eva Césarová, who held the position of executive producer in the documentary film Doctor on a Trip and participated in the expedition as the only woman.
Price: CZK 300, or CZK 500 for a couple (if there are two of you, please indicate this in advance in the registration form)
