About event
PREMIERE: November 8, 2023
Barbora Hrzánová and Radek Holub have chosen as their new joint production the excellently written comedy A Well Played Game, already proven on Czech stages, in which they will reunite with the renowned director Lída Engelová, with which they have already had several successful collaborations.
A well-played game hides a big theme, and the power of friendship, interest in each other, the willingness to help and be close to each other, even if it is often not easy, but it is all the more valuable to look at it with humor. The play was written by comedian Stefan Vögel, himself a cabaret performer who knows how to make a good point both verbally and with situational gags. It is interesting, funny, sometimes deep, which is exactly what a play should be, in which actors can venture beyond the limits of their life and acting experience.
The protagonist of this brilliant conversational comedy is a bitter aging widower Fred Kowinski, who long ago fell into the feeling that nothing in the current world has any meaning for him and is not worth seeing other people, that is, except for an old friend, with whom he regularly meets for a game of chess. Neither his son nor the hired housekeepers, to whom Kowinski always says goodbye very quickly, can do anything to him. Until the vivacious housekeeper Rozalie enters his unchanging gloomy life and plays her game with him, and not on a chessboard, in which the game is also played according to her rules!
We will see Lukáš Jurek alongside Barbora Hrzánová and Radek Holub , Barbora Mošnová, and for the first time on the Czech professional stage, after completing his acting studies in France, Antonín Holub will perform in alternation with Roman Tomeš, who, in addition to his successes in the musical field, appears for the first time in a purely dramatic role.
