About event
An opera about the man who lit up baroque Prague
Come with us on September 14 and 15 at Prague's Hybernia Theater on an opera-light journey to Prague of the 18th century, to the theater of František Antonín Špork. The story of perseverance, vulnerability and hope follows the fate of a boy who became paralyzed after an unfortunate collision with a count's carriage - and yet became the first master of light in the Baroque theatre. The theme of light permeates the entire production – as a symbol of life, art and inner strength that turns pain into creativity.
The production Theater of Light based on the novel of the same name by Anne Delaflotte Mehdevi combines baroque aesthetics and contemporary theatrical means. Jan Jirásek's music, performed by the Musica Florea chamber orchestra, combines baroque and contemporary film styles. The scenography is created on the basis of research into the latest light design technologies by the students of the Studio of Light and Audiovisual Design for the Performing Arts of DAMU Prague.
