Is theater therapy, or therapy? theater?
Milan: Maybe I wanted to tell you that I'm not a good person. That we are not good people. Theater is a dangerous thing. Maybe it would be best if you left.
Mišo: Nobody is good or bad.
Milan: Do you think?
The production in the context of the SkRAT theater seems like a departure from their own way of working. The method of the author's collective creation is replaced by a dramatic text, this time custom-written by Peter Lomnický. It tells the story of a theater troupe that is in the process of rehearsing the play Ivanov. During the tests, conflicts and internal disintegration of the team occur, leading to group therapy under the guidance of an expert.
The motif of a dysfunctional personality unable to create a sincere partnership or friendly relationship is a lens through which one can interpret not only Ivanov himself, but also the relationships between the members of the fictional ensemble. The play intertwines specific excerpts and replicas from Ivanov with excerpts that elaborate, elaborate, and parody general themes from Russian classics; everything is finally subversively commented on by the dialogues sparkling with an irresistible mixture of intellectual cunning and irritating introspection that is characteristic of this group.
The production and the event were created with the support of the public funds of the Fund for the Support of Art, the Foundation of the City of Bratislava, the Bratislava Regional Subsidy Scheme, and the project was also financially supported by the City Council of Bratislava - Staré Mesto.
