A fundamental task for facilitators and managers is to create relevance to the topic in challenging situations, to issue clear and precise invitations, and to facilitate a process that stimulates thought and promotes open discourse. Central to this are questions that arouse interest and invite different perspectives. A good question initially opens a space in which everyone can contribute - it is an invitation to participate. Then it arouses curiosity and invites us to explore a topic even more closely, perhaps also to recognize hidden and blocking assumptions and to gain completely new insights. A good question can have a profound impact and literally change the chemistry in the room. A new door opens, and often there is even a silence, a premonition of “something important is happening here”. A good question stimulates play and creativity and encourages exploration of essential topics, important emotions and fresh thoughts. “Questions can taste like kisses,” as Carmen Beilfuss so aptly describes. With good questions we can invite dialogue and enter new territory. The quality of a meeting is therefore decisively determined by the quality of the questions asked.

This seminar is exactly about the art of asking good questions or issuing invitations - be it in preparation together with our clients or spontaneously in the process.

Our exploration will develop around these questions:

· What makes a good question?

· How can invitations be formulated in such a way that as many as possible know what to do, want to participate and also theirs can contribute my own perspective and expertise?

· When do I ask which questions in the process (opening, holding, closing)?

· How can I learn to develop an attitude (in myself and others) that makes it possible to ask questions without intention and without prejudice?

We work interactively in the seminar and use various facilitation techniques that help us to be in contact with good questions, to feel their impact and to integrate what we have experienced into our practice.
