The interaction of people and puppets creates a time-spanning tableau on the stage in which the historical and the fairy-tale are interwoven into history: Lion Feuchtwanger's novel 'The Jewess of Toledo' takes us back to medieval Castile under the rule of Alfonso VIII. These are troubled times, life is torn apart by wars, although Nowhere else in Europe were the diverse cultures as fertile and closely linked as on the Iberian Peninsula. But the golden age of the legendary Al Andalus is over. Muslim and Christian empires are bitterly opposed and fight for power.

A scenic deep drilling with motifs by Lion Feuchtwanger.
With texts by Hannah Arendt, Youssef Chahine, Kristo Šagor, Klaus Theweleit.
A homage to 1700 years of Judaism in Germany and to the peacemaking power of mixed societies.
