He stands there again. Like so often. Like all these years. With the engine running, parking lights and that very special unrest that is in the air before every departure. You know what's coming - and yet everything is different this time: With "The Last Bus", Die Fantastischen Vier are announcing a very special tour. After more than three decades of band history, more than a thousand concerts and countless nights in the tour bus, the quartet is going on a big trip one last time - with everything that goes with it: a big stage, a brand new show and brilliant musicians.
36 years of hip-hop history: An era is coming to an end
This tour is a chapter that brings together everything that was - a look back at over 36 years between nightliners, spotlights and choruses that have shaped entire generations. It is the story of a band that wrote German music history, co-founded an entire genre, and significantly influenced it with their label Four Music, founded in the mid-90s, and the associated booking agency Four Artists.
The Fantastischen Vier are still the same four pioneers today who helped hip-hop achieve its breakthrough in Germany. In 1991 they released the first German-language hip hop album with “Now Geht’s Ab” before releasing the following year with “Die da!?!?” A historic coup was achieved; they were the first German-speaking rap band to make it into the top ten of the charts and were played up and down on the radio.
Smudo, Thomas D, Michi Beck and And.Ypsilon proved that German-language rap can be authentic, intelligent, humorous and compatible with the masses. As one of the few bands from Germany, they managed to release albums over four decades that reached the top of the charts - also proof of their relevance and creativity. With hits like “MFG”, “Troy”, “Sie ist weg”, “Tag am Meer” and “Zusammen” they created the soundtrack for several generations and fill arenas, stadiums and open air venues.
And at the same time “The Last Bus” is a departure: once again across the country. Once again full throttle through the republic. Lights, noise and love once again. Another 4 cities in 4 days - mammoth logistics, night shifts on the highway. And that for at least 18 months, in order to stop at all the stops the band has already visited.
For everyone who says: “I’ve never seen them live.” Or: “It’s been far too long since the last time.” For everyone who wants to know why this was always more than just music. For everyone who is – or wants to be – part of this unprecedented story. And for everyone who feels: This moment will not come back.
