About event
Devany, these are nine girls who, with their singing and playing various instruments, bring Terchov music back to the places where, according to legend, it originates - i.e. to heaven.
The polyphonic folk songs from Těrchová made the village famous not only in Slovakia, but also in the world. In 2013, this phenomenon was included in the list of intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO, and it is this legacy that the Devanas honor and carry forward in their own unique way.
The ensemble was created under the guidance of teacher Andrej Dostál, who added a cello, piano and accordion to the original set of instruments. The result is an unusual form of folk music with impressive polyphony.
In white costumes that symbolize purity and joy, Devany acts as one unit on stage, even though each brings something exceptional to the ensemble.
With their approach to Těrchov music, the unique interplay of voices and instruments, they gain the respect of experts and audiences.
They aroused a great response last year also at the music show Czech Music Crossroads in Ostrava.
The Prague premiere will take place as part of the Femme Fatale concert series with the support of the City of Prague and the MKČR.
If you want to experience how traditional folklore blends with a modern artistic approach and how "heavenly music" sounds performed by the young generation, don't miss this concert.
