About event

Can walking serve as a radical and unproductive tool of subversion? In the context of contemporary society, which reduces space to a predictable user interface through technology and mass tourism, deliberate wandering becomes an act of resistance.

I invite you to a field experiment – a collective disconnection that turns the human body into a sensorimotor apparatus and opens up the intuitive, emotionally colored layers of the urban landscape.

Even before the drift itself, you can visit the Rootstock and Scion exhibition in the Guest Studio artist.

When: June 4 – June 9, 2026
Where: Atelier B11, UMPRUM, Kasárna Karlín
What it’s about: The exhibition features massive branches carrying analog recordings from the previous journey and a line of wood chips that reflect the human need to divide and exploit space. The viewer is invited to violate this order - taking a fragment (chip) to a common drift creates a critical reflection on the consumption of the landscape.

🕒 When and where will we meet for the drift?

Date: Thursday 25 June 2026
Time: 15:00
Meeting place: Karlín Barracks in front of the UMPRUM building
Goal: Kafkárna

🛠️ How will the drift take place?

Collective disconnection: Before the start, we turn off and hide our phones and GPS navigation. Control over the direction is taken over by pure intuition and sensory vigilance.

Analog recording: Instead of digital traces, we will record the perceived situations and sensations during the journey on pieces of paper.

Final ritual at Kafkárna: We will light a fire at the destination of our journey. By throwing wood chips (fragments from the exhibition) into the final fire, individual acts of extraction will symbolically transform into a collective ritual and a space for reflection.

Entry is free.
