Andris Kop, master chef at the Savoy, is invited to give a lecture about his cooking skills. His lecture begins as a harmless speech, but there is - apparently - someone in the audience whose presence throws him off course and leads him to digress: an inspector who has to solve the bizarre murder of a young man who was well acquainted with Andris. Valentin has been dismembered and gutted as expertly as only chefs and surgeons can do, and Andris is a suspect.
His lecture makes increasingly manic references to this murder case and gradually escalates into an obsessive monologue in which Cooking as an act of killing takes on a gruesome metaphor. The recipes become more and more abstruse, more and more crazy, more disgusting, and cannibalistic-erotic fantasy emerges from the culinary reflections. The speech leads to a confession that leads to a surprising twist at the end.
