About event

wissenschaftliche konferenz „was a der ozean über den klimwandel sagt“

In the frame Vienna Green Days , Austrian Institute of Austria Organize a conference entitled " What the Ocean of Climate Change" Meeres de Vienne.

covering more than 70% of the planet, the ocean plays a central role in the balance of the climate and its biodiversity. Second lung on the planet, it absorbs more than 90% of excess heat due to climate change. By being the main carbon well on the planet, it regulates the climate. But by playing this role, the ocean deteriorates, and must also face the effects of the increase in overall temperature: the melting of ice, elevation of sea level, waves of oceanic heat and ocean acidification. Beyond these phenomena, these changes have repercussions on sea fauna and flora, forcing marine ecosystems to adapt, from corals to migratory species, including fish populations. French and Austrian experts will present the work carried out on the mechanisms underlying these transformations, as well as on the possible solutions to alleviate these impacts and preserve marine biodiversity.

speakers:

  • Lévy, Ocean counselor to the presidency of the Institute of Research on Development and Affiliate Laboratory in the Lochean Laboratory (Oceanography and Climate Laboratory: Digital Experiences and Approaches)
  • Gerhard J. Herndl, Department for functional and evolutional ecology.
  • Moderation:

    • Sophia Ferchiou, post-doctorant at the University of Vienne
by an intervention by artist Karine Blanche Seror and will be followed by a reception .
