About event
Indigenous the museum in Olomouc invites you to a lecture and debate with Sara Polak, archaeologist and popularizer of science, who connects the research of civilizations with modern technologies and shows how the past can help to understand the present. What does "civilization" really mean? And why is it not easy to clearly define it?
Thursday 9.4. from 18:00 to 20:00
FREE entry, reservation required here on EVENTBRITE.
Venue: VMO (St. Wenceslas III Hall)
The lecture will focus on the basic paradoxes associated with this concept, for example why some societies fulfill traditional ideas about civilization, while others only partially fulfill them, and yet we perceive them that way. It will show that civilization cannot be understood as a unified model, but rather as diverse and variable forms of human coexistence.
Within the educational cycle CIVILIZATION will offer space to think about how we think about civilizations, what we expect from them and what their development says about ourselves
