Chrám na konci sveta ☀️ (egyptologická prednáška)

PhDr. In his lecture, Pavel Onderka will present fundamental research from one of the archaeological expeditions of the Czech National Museum 🏛️

Between 2011 and 2018, a temple dedicated to the goddess Mut was discovered at a Sudanese archaeological site, which in the middle of the 1st century AD. l. were built by the Meroi rulers - King Natakamani and Queen Amanitore.

The temple, which the early European visitors to today's Sudan called Typhonium, was the place of extremely important rituals related to the myth of the Sun's Eye ☀️ Its architecture was fully subordinated to this myth and reflects the deep religious ideas of its time.

In the lecture, you will learn about important discoveries that fundamentally contributed to to our understanding of the religion of the Meroi Kingdom - a civilization developing on the territory of today's Sudan between the 3rd century BC. l. and the 4th century AD. l.
