About event
Eugene O'Neill: A long day's journey into night
Slow motion of the disintegration of one family
A summer country house. August 1912. America. Father, an actor by profession, whose main idol is money and profit despite the pain that the worship of these false sacraments causes him and his loved ones. A mother escaping the reality of relationships into opiate addiction disguised as medication. Older son Jamie as a mixture of inept imitation of the father, empty defiance and alcoholism. And the younger son Edmund – Eugene O'Neill himself – on whom the hopeless reality is gradually rushing. Family as a dysfunctional but solid network of false roles and unfulfilled expectations. The family as a social womb.
Translation by Ester Žantovská / Directed by Ivan Buraj / Dramaturgy by Tereza Marečková / Set by Antonín Šilar / Costumes by Kateřina Štefková / Music by Matúš Kobolka / Movement collaboration by Markéta Jandová
Starring Barbara Lukešová, Jan Vondráček, Matyáš Řezníček, Samuel Toman, Štěpánka Fingerhutová, Táňa Malíková, Daniel Wagner
