CORNER REVISITED - IN MEMORIAM CARLOS PAREDS AND MYSIA

It was in 2003 that the Mísia artist, who tragically left us this year, shaken to a project that aroused strong controversy in the art - as, by the way, was recurring in her career - for creativity, boldness (some would say, heresy!) As always, he knew how to surround himself with the most deeply blocked poets to penetrate the soul of one of the greatest creators of our contemporary and tell stories with his music-Vasco Graça Moura, Sérgio Godinho and Pedro Tamen responded to the call. It was necessary to challenge the fado musicians of Lisbon, who usually accompany me, to play in a musical language that is not yours. It was necessary to sing without caricaturing the themes in "fados forcibly"; This without denying the “fadista soul,” which is in my voice. This is definitely a fado record although the songs are not. Without wanting to approach the English duplication of an aesthetic that only the walls belongs and only no one else -and no one else -keeps the secret forever, “singing” is my gift to Carlos Paredes. ”

It is for all this when we celebrate the centenary of the birth of the guitar, we also understand the revisit to Carlos Legacy that left us.

In the show we propose to participate three of the musicians who accompanied Mísia on the stage of this corner - José Manuel Neto, on the Portuguese guitar, Carlos Proença, on the guitar of Fado and Luís Pacheco Cunha on the violin; and also the fantastic guitarist Catherine Strynckx.

and crowning the project we suggest a young voice of enormous potential, capable of dedicating itself with body and soul, reinventing the sounds and inflections that Mysia and Walls inspired - the young fadista Aurora Studer. From alfama, unknowingly, laments of the Bravas roses, oh no, song of Alcipe, no dreams surrender to the arrival, bitch hours, shadow waltz and green years. And still themes by Carlos Paredes interpreted reverentially by the talent of José Manuel Neto and Carlos Proença.
