“Antigone” – the new play by Bodo Wartke!
After “Oedipus the King”, the piano cabaret artist proves his acting talent for the second time with a tragedy by Sophocles:
Bodo Wartke and his long-time stage partner Melanie Haupt play all the roles in the piece in rapid role changes with few props in a minimalist stage design. Like the previous piece, “Antigone” is also completely rhymed, the language is modern and there are numerous pop culture references to be discovered.
In his adaptation, Bodo Wartke focuses on the limitations of man, his failure in the face of conflict and becoming human through failure.
With all respect and yet humor, Bodo Wartke approaches his “Antigone” without attaching tragedy to the piece
