Wildes Holz invites you to a block party! Your new program celebrates music, life, diversity, peculiarities, strange habits, quirky tics, wooden rock, the recorder. Yes, the recorder, the party instrument par excellence, a must for every partygoer!
The three wild ones have been showing where the wooden hammer hangs for over 25 years. Powerful acoustic music paired with casual humor and self-irony is their trademark. It's always surprising what breathtaking sounds they can get out of their instruments - and what an acoustic guitar and a double bass can handle alongside the recorder...
Look forward to party music from four centuries, presented on three simple wooden instruments with the legendary Wild Wood furor!
It is said that the story of Wildes Holz began in a hotel room in Hungary, where the three of them went to concerts with their music school. Anto and Markus played in two swing and Latin ensembles, Tobias helped out as a saxophonist. Hardly anyone knew that he also played the recorder masterfully. One evening he gathered up his courage and asked them if they would like to play some jazz pieces with him. To be honest, the two of them didn't expect that much from a recorder and said: "Sure!"
What happened next was a session that hasn't ended to this day. From dark cellar vaults to well-known stages, from the far north to the deepest south: everywhere they ensure amazed and ultimately enthusiastic listeners, and all because they still enjoy one thing the most: being Wild Wood themselves.
Wildes Holz went through a deep valley when their guitarist and friend Anto Karaula suddenly died in mid-2018. The band took a break for six months and returned in 2019 with Algerian-born Djamel Laroussi on guitar. Anto and Markus met him in the mid-90s. He completely perplexed them because, as a left-handed person, he simply played an upside-down right-handed guitar. You couldn't recognize any of the handles, everything sounded a little different, and everything sounded incredibly awesome! Over the years he became a good friend - and also a world-famous guitarist. For Wildes Holz he was a stroke of luck because, in addition to his unusual but excellent technique, he also had a good deal of passion, which inspired Tobias and Markus to new heights and brought back the joy of making music together. They will be eternally grateful to him for that.
Djamel now wants to focus more on his projects in his homeland of Algeria. But he won't say goodbye to his friends completely, but will definitely play as a guest at Wildes Holz concerts from time to time. Johannes Behr has been part of the team since 2021. Or rather the party. Johannes is originally a jazz guitarist, but is also at home in all sorts of other musical styles and thus enriches the band's joy of experimentation.
