Bílá nemoc

Čapek's prophetic image

The pandemic of the disease that is not the medicine comes from China. When Dr. Galen finds a medicine against white illness, he has the only condition for his distribution: he will issue his secret if all governments agree on international peace. In a country led by a national militant marshal, such a condition seems unthinkable. Marshal feels like his holy duty to raise the nation through the war. Armor and many of them earn arms. Galen refuses to heal, saves only the poorest, defenseless. Or is the denial of help to the sick as a fanatic step as Marshal's furious arms? And there are no seeming opponents of two sides of one coin rather than black and white opposites of hero and villain?
