About event
Slam poetry is a performative genre of competitive poetry in which the audience decides the winner of the evening by scoring from 0 to 10.
Slam poetry has only three rules:
1. no costume or props,
2. author's text,
3. at the championships, the time limit is 4 minutes.
At the fourth slam exhibition in Barmuseu, on 10/23/2025 at 19:00, you will be presented with a stellar line-up:
Bedña: Since 2014, he has been engaged in musical comedy and stand-up. In 2022, he became the champion of Slovakia in slam poetry, from where he advanced to the European Championships in Rome and subsequently to the World Championships in Rio de Janeiro. In the same year, he won the all-Slovak round of the Kontakt singing competition. He studied film directing at VŠMU and is currently studying multimedia composition at JAMU. He is also involved in volunteer theater.
The Hatter: The first king of the hill, teacher of nations, destroyer of tumors and hysterical historian. Finalist of the 2023 championships. The heavyweight of the Slovak slam. The greatest Slovak poet - at least in terms of dimensions. At the altitude where his brain is, the air is already thin, which leads to primitive associations connecting the seemingly unconnectable.
Ljuk: Sarcastic, incorrect, finalist of the Slovak Championships 2024 and champion of the small scene in central and eastern Slovakia. With the title the king of the hill², this horror lover lifts the audience out of their seats, offers controversial lines and is a walking mediator against the ordinary.
Straka: Founder of contemporary Slovak slam and artistic director of the Slovak slam scene. He represented Slovakia at the European Championships in 2018 as a co-author of the straw theater Bridging the Barriers, directed by Marc Smith. He led dozens of workshops and participated in hundreds of events, and is the author of six books. In 2024, he brought the European Slam Poetry Championships to Slovakia.
Entrance fee: €7 in advance / €9 on the spot
We look forward to seeing you!
