FIFTY YEARS - THE FINAL STRAIGHT
THE TOUR 2026
For the occasion, this time an arena tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland. An anniversary like this needs to be celebrated.
When you talk about BAP, you're talking about German rock history. With their Cologne lyrics, they achieved what only a few bands have managed to do on this scale: they helped local cultural assets achieve universal relevance and celebrated unimagined successes far beyond the borders of their hometown of Cologne and Germany. 2026 will be a very special year for BAP and its huge fan base, as the band, founded in 1976, is celebrating its 50th anniversary and the band's founder Wolfgang Niedecken is celebrating his 75th birthday. Reason enough to return to where Niedecken loves best: to his homeland, in this case to the local football stadium, close to his fans. Under the title “Fifty Years of BAP – The Home Straight”, the Cologne rock legend is going on a big anniversary tour through Germany, Austria and Switzerland for 18 dates in the winter.
With early hits like “Verdamp lang her”, “Kristallnaach”, “Müslimän”, “Waschsalon” and “Do kanns Zaubere” BAP wrote music history in the 80's, played their way irrevocably into the hearts of their fans and established themselves as a genuine rock institution in the German music scene with passion, attitude and an unmistakable sound. Thirteen number one albums, precious metal awards, coveted music prizes and, above all, live performances, BAP achieved greatest successes over five decades. After the sold-out ZEITREISE tour 2024/25, rock legend Wolfgang Niedecken
will be on stage with his band next year and will go on a musical journey through time with the audience to celebrate the enormous repertoire from 50 years - including the greatest hits.
Since their founding in the mid-70s, the band has had a lasting impact on the German rock and pop landscape. Their hits became anthems for an entire generation and are still highly topical and relevant today. Even today, Niedecken does not shy away from dealing with difficult topics or current political events in his profound, poetic and touching songs. The stories that the charismatic singer and frontman tells with his warm, smoky voice are authentic and close. The BAP sound is a brilliant mix of rock and folk elements. You can feel that Niedecken grew up with the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Kinks and Bob Dylan.
As a young man from Cologne. Where others see dialect as a barrier, he and his band have made it a door opener, straight into the heart. Despite initial criticism of the decision to sing in Kölsch, Niedecken remained true to his regional dialect - success proved him right. The band went on their first tour of Germany at the beginning of the 80s and did so again and again in the following decades of their band's history with great response.
Especially live, the BAP phenomenon continues to unfold in its unique form to this day - even 50 years later.
So it's hardly surprising that the concert for the band's 50th anniversary on July 10, 2026 in Cologne's RheinEnergieStadion was sold out within a short time. All fans who were unable to get a ticket now have the opportunity to experience the band live from November 27, 2026 as part of their big anniversary tour “Fifty Years of BAP – The Home Straight”. There will be a total of 19 dates in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Among others in Hamburg's Barclays Arena, Stuttgart's Porsche Arena, Munich's Olympiahalle, Berlin's Uber Arena and at the "Homecoming" in Cologne's LANXESS arena.
When asked whether "The Finish Line" in the tour title should announce the band's farewell from the stage, Wolfgang says: "For us, the greatest thing is playing the songs live in front of our long-standing, loyal fans. I still have a lot of fun with it, even at an advanced age. But you have to remain realistic: Planning such big tours is always a bet on the future. Let's celebrate our anniversary together now. A finish line like that can happen under Circumstances may take longer than you think and ours has only just begun.
Always take it step by step, otherwise you might end up stumbling."
