Musicians B.eye and DJ ILL Blast are the April guests of Hudby na FUTU. The first of them is again one of our former students of the New Media Studio, this time Adam Hrušovský alias B.eye, a unique fingerdrummer artist with his MPC instrument, better known abroad than at home. For this occasion, he will bring his musical partner Billy Blanko aka DJ ILL Blast, with whom he has not been playing for a long time, but with whom he already managed to defend the title of world champions in the Routine Team Battle category at the prestigious Sample Music Festival in Berlin last year and also 4th place at the world finals of IDA World Krakow (all together with DJ Friky). As a unique duo, fingerdrummer and DJ are currently working on a joint album.
Fingerdrumming (translated as drumming with fingers) is "the technique of playing rhythms and beats with the fingers on electronic or digital instruments, most often on so-called pad controllers". It is a live, improvised art, and B.eye has world-class success in this discipline. As the only active professional fingerdrummer from Slovakia, he is regularly ranked among the world's best and for the third year he is among the TOP 8 best fingerdrummers in the world. He also qualified for Tokyo twice in a row in the top three fingerdrummers in the world, but for financial reasons he has not yet represented Slovakia in Tokyo. However, he represents him at other international competitions.
Billy Blanko aka DJ ILL Blast started working with B.eye last year after returning from London where he worked for 20 years. They played a few concerts together and participated in the mentioned competitions together. In 2020, DJ ILL Blast individually won the World Championship in the DJ category at Portablist Lounge and IDA CZ/SK Vice Champion. He also won 5th place at DJ's Clash of Titans and 4th place at Turntablism Battle.
I would like to thank the invited musicians and Nikolas Wintzler (especially for the unique posters), Erik Sikora (especially technical cooperation) and Boris Vaitovič (technical cooperation and press) for their cooperation.
