Author & Punisher
The music project Author & Punisher was founded in 2004 in San Diego by the American mechanical engineer and sculptor Tristan Shone, who in a unique way connects industrial, drone and doom metal with robotics and industrial automation. The basis of his work is the construction of his own musical instruments. Instead of traditional guitars and drums, Shone uses mechanical devices and controllers made of aluminum and steel that respond to the movement of his body. These 'custom' instruments generate massive, heavy bass and rhythmic industrial sounds, which Shone complements with occasional melodic vocals. As one of the key acquisitions of the Relapse Records publishing house, he made his name in the extreme music scene, especially with the albums Women & Children and Melmoth. His hand-built instruments act as robust, mechanical MIDI controllers that translate the physical force, pressure and movement of the human body into electronic sound. Shone designs the machines in CAD programs, machines them on CNC machines, prints on 3D printers and installs the electronics himself, completely DIY. He sums up his philosophy with the rule: "If I don't touch something, you don't hear anything." Instead of simply pressing the plastic buttons of a controller or computer, he brings into play the weight of massive materials - steel, aluminum and copper, which gives his live performances an organic imperfection and uncompromising pressure at the same time.

King Yosef (real name Tayves Yosef Pelletier) is an American record producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist from Portland, Oregon. His domain is an unprecedented mix of industrial, metal, hardcore, noise and dark hip-hop. In the beginning, he collaborated with the rap collective Members Only (XXXTentacion) and became a member of the art collective Red Mirror. In 2017, he profiled himself with his own eight-track album Fortune Teller. The following album Guilty (2018) helped him to the throne of extremely raw heavy rap metal, the next Anidrogynous (2023) and Spire Of Fear (2025) only raised the bar and confirmed the position. King Yosef is also known for his versatility as a producer. He often collaborates with Australian controversial artist Zheani, musician ghrins or the group Code Orange. He also works in side projects (Bruised Core, Possible Jumper) or in his own band Cogent.
