Authentic Assessment in the Early Childhood Years

Assessment shouldn't be a checklist—it should tell a story.

What if assessment didn’t feel like testing—but like truly seeing the child?

Authentic assessment is about understanding children through observation, conversation, and documentation. It’s not just about what they know, but how they learn, express, and grow.

In our upcoming workshop, Authentic Assessment in the Early Childhood Years, we’ll explore how to assess in ways that are meaningful, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with your values as an educator. Learn how to capture rich learning moments, make children’s thinking visible, and use assessment to inform responsive teaching.

Assessment should never be separate from learning—it should deepen it.
