Art&Play – Afrika – rituální masky

Ritual masks that depict various figures: ancestors, gods, demons, animals, are made by various African tribes across the continent. Even the children will make their own stylized paper mask at the penultimate workshop.

The art of non-European nations is extremely rich and diverse. Throughout history, many European painters and sculptors have been inspired by artists from Africa, Asia, South America and other distant lands. Even today, we can discover many interesting art techniques and approaches when we immerse ourselves in non-European cultures. During the workshops, we will find ourselves on different continents and try out various techniques and artistic procedures applied in the art of different nations. For example, we will be inspired by the radical stylization of the human face in African masks, we will discover the principles of Indonesian shadow theater and create our own Zen image.

The workshops are suitable for children aged 7-12 without parents. We recommend work or appropriate clothing and drinks. The workshop lasts 90 minutes without a break. All materials and tools are included in the ticket price. Children take their creations home.
