The father is a music professor, but he makes extra money by playing occasionally, the mother, a translator, takes care of her seriously ill daughter and helps out at the Home for the elderly and disabled. The ten-year-old son Nikola immediately gets involved and starts helping his mother at home. With his childlike energy and enthusiasm, he begins to reawaken the desire for life in old people, to spend time together and get closer. But this meeting is also beneficial for Nikola. In his new friends, he finds the love, understanding and attention that he lacked in his family. Unfortunately, biological laws cannot be stopped, so his new friends slowly leave. With Julio Popović, one of the last old men, the boy goes to the sea without his parents' knowledge, where they spend several unforgettable days together.
