About event

⬡ Panel discussion / Mira Keratová, Ilona Németh & Olja Triaška Štefanović

⬡ Moderated by / Ana de Almeida

/ 04/12/2025 / 18:00 / tranzit sk / Beskydská 12, Bratislava /

The event is part of the exhibition Defiant Archive and will take place in Slovak.

The archive is never neutral – it lives between remembering and forgetting, between intimacy and power. As part of Ana de Almeida's exhibition The defying archive in transit sk, three remarkable personalities will meet in discussion, whose practice reveals the archive as a living and constantly questioned field – Ilona Németh, Olja Triaška Stefanović and the curator Mira Keratová.
Through different but interconnected perspectives, they explore how acts of remembrance can be a form of resistance at the same time.

Mira Keratová returns to the unofficial art and performative gestures of the 1970s and 1980s, where documentation becomes both a witness and a trace of absence. Ilona Németh interweaves personal and political stories, thereby reflecting post-socialist Central Europe, while considering material memory as a subtle form of defiance. Olja Triaška Stefanović engages public and institutional archives to reveal how collective histories are preserved through photography, architecture and Cold War infrastructures.

🗯️ The discussion, moderated by Ana de Almeida, will expand the horizon of the exhibition The Resistant Archive. It invites us to imagine the archive not as static evidence, but as a shared, emotional and political space where the past still speaks to the present.

⊹ Mira Keratová, art historian and curator who explores the intersections of art, activism and documentation. She works as a curator of the Bratislava City Gallery and the Central Slovak Gallery.

⊹ Ilona Németh, an artist and curator who deals with the legacy of socialism and transformations after 1989 in Central Europe.

⊹ Olja Triaška Stefanović, a visual artist and photographer who deals with research on memory, archives and Cold War politics; associate professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.

⊹ Ana de Almeida is a Portuguese artist born in Czechoslovakia and living in Austria, who works on self-archiving, affect and counter-memory.

🇬🇧 EN: Reframing the Archive: Intimacy, Power, and Memory

⬡ Panel discussion with Mira Keratová, Ilona Németh & Olja Triaška Stefanović

⬡ Moderated by Ana de Almeida

/ 04/12/2025 / 6 p.m. / tranzit sk / Beskydská 12, Bratislava /

This event is a part of The Resistant Archive exhibition and will be held in Slovak language.

An archive is never neutral – it lives between remembering and forgetting, intimacy and power. Within the framework of Ana de Almeida's exhibition The Resistant Archive at tranzit sk, a conversation brings together three remarkable voices – artists Ilona Németh, Olja Triaška Stefanović, and curator Mira Keratová – whose practices reveal the archive as a living, contested field.
Through distinct yet interconnected perspectives, they will explore how acts of remembering can also be acts of resistance.

Mira Keratová revisits unofficial art and performative gestures of the 1970s and 1980s, where documentation becomes both a witness and a trace of absence. Ilona Németh interlaces personal and political narratives to reflect on post-socialist Central Europe, treating material memory as a subtle form of defiance. Olja Triaška Stefanović engages with public and institutional archives to expose how collective histories persist through photography, architecture, and Cold War infrastructures.

🗯️ Moderated by Ana de Almeida, the discussion expands The Resistant Archive beyond the exhibition – inviting us to imagine the archive not as static evidence, but as a shared, emotional, and political space where the past continues to speak to the present.
