About event
A unique experience in Prague
APHKHAZETI is a breathtaking combination of Georgian dance, which has its roots in centuries-old traditions, with the pulse of contemporary choreography and music. Founded in 1931, the troupe has almost a century of history and has captivated audiences around the world, bringing to life the beauty, folklore and electrifying spirit of Georgian culture.
After the war in Abkhazia, which forced the artist to relocate to Tbilisi in 1992, the troupe has retained its unmistakable character, mastery and artistic soul. A new era began in 2021 under the leadership of the brilliant artistic director Bachana Chanturii, who brought together top Georgian composers and created a strong and original musical world for the ensemble.
5. June 2026, the only performance of APHKHAZETI will take place in Prague - and for the first time ever, it will take place on the circular stage in the ultra-modern Nová Spirála hall. This exceptional format places the dancers exceptionally close to the audience, creating an intense sense of presence, emotion and connection. For this unique space, the troupe is preparing an exclusive program that will reveal the dynamism and fire of Georgian dance in a completely new light.
Tradition, ballet and modernity come together in a spectacular performance that the Czech Republic has never seen before.
