About event
Guest:
Veronika Homolová Tóthová, reporter, writer, director, documentarian
Talk and projection of the film documentary ANNA MALINOVÁ. SAFE SHELTER FOR GABČÍK (directed by Veronika Tóthová Homolová, 58 min, 2022) with the personal participation of the author. The documentary was 8 years in the making and is a tribute to a brave and brave young woman who was very unfairly forgotten.
On October 24, 1942, 261 patriots who selflessly helped the Czechoslovak paratroopers were executed in the Mauthausen concentration camp. Among them is Anna Malinová, who hid Jozef Gabčík before the planned assassination of Reinhard Heydrich and actively contributed to the success of the anti-Nazi resistance. It was there that Jozef Gabčík hid even three days after the attack. Anna Malinová's daughter, Alena Voštová, learned the truth about her courageous and brave mother only after 1989.
Vojtěch Šustek, archivist, expert on the Heydrichiad:
"If it weren't for people like Anna Malinová, Gabčík and Kubiš would not have lasted even two days in the protectorate without being arrested."
The event is open to schools and public.
