Alica Šaling & Nela Rusková: Duch miesta / Work in Progress

What constitutes the essence of the space in which we exist? Is it the matter and the form in which it is formed? Are they people, animals, plants, objects that exist in it? Their activity? Relationships? Smell, colors, sounds, light? Are they traces left behind by past events, the present moment, or future possibilities? Is it knowing the development of a place over time? How does space affect us and how do we contribute?

Alice Šaling and Nela Rusková's project with the working title Spirit of the place began its journey in autumn 2024 and is slowly becoming more tangible and clearer. We're abandoning the format of "looking" at what we've created and focusing on how easy it is to have a generous opportunity to explore.

We invite you to a collective experience. For a small performative trip. Let's explore together what is the spirit of a place and what is a layer that we add ourselves. We offer time to slow down, introspect and integrate. We will guide you through the walk out and back in. Together we will connect the topography of the outer and inner space. And perhaps also other layers below it.

The relationship of a person with space (in which he exists) and a person with a place (as a mental construct) includes three levels – physical (contact with architecture), emotional-psychological (memories, boundaries, focus) and spiritual (balancing of consciousness between internal (body) and external space). It reflects the associative archive of themes - personal, interpersonal, social.
