Zuzana Bujačková's lecture will show how the socialist media "produced" the ideal of a woman - a working, self-sacrificing, beautiful, politically aware, and at the same time perfect mother and housewife.
Using the example of the Slovenka magazine, we will see that propaganda does not work only through facts, but through language, emotions and images: first it sets the reader in the right mood, then offers her a simple story and a few sharp contrasts, and finally urges her to act. Together, we will try to read several examples and visuals from the period and ask ourselves what of these schemes has survived until today's "superwoman" pressure to handle everything.
