Additive Manufacturing in the Construction Industry
Im Framework from the module Emerging Fields in Architecture (++), HB2, TU Vienna
++
The module Emerging Fields in Architecture conveys current information Knowledge from new research fields in architectural and engineering disciplines, with the aim of addressing current and future design challenges in a broader social context in an interdisciplinary and fundamental way. The lectures convey knowledge about different and interdisciplinary approaches to design, current developments and results in materials and construction methods research, about planning and building under/in extreme conditions as well as about structures that change or develop due to changing parameters.
In this context, strategies for design development (from the initial idea to implementation) are questioned in an interdisciplinary discourse, and the question of how the path from idea to realization can be shaped and to what extent it is possible to be systematically creative is examined.< /p>
Alexander Karaivanov is a researcher and architectural designer with a focus on new technologies, digital design methods and computer-aided manufacturing. He studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna - Studio Zaha Hadid, where he completed his master's degree in 2012.
He taught as Assistant and guest lecturer at various workshops and design studios at the Bratislava Art Academy, the University of Applied Arts Vienna and the University of Innsbruck.
Karaivanov has several years of experience in internationally active architectural firms, including Coop Himmelblau, Ahmet Alataş and Labvert.< /p>
He took part in various artistic and architectural collaboration projects, which were exhibited at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2012, the Istanbul Design Biennale 2013 and the Saatchi Gallery London, among others.
He has been researching since 2016 for Baumit GmbH on additive manufacturing methods with cement-bound materials.
