About event

49th & Main-these are two boys from Kilkenny, Ireland, which mix indie pop with a good dose of experimentation. Producer Ben O'Sullivan and singer/multi -instrumentalist Paddy King actually only intended to spend the summer of 2019 in Canada with a few friends - for security they packed up a few recording devices. What started as a spontaneous adventure was the foundation for her first music project at the end. Once in Vancouver (near the 49th & Main Street), O'Sullivan found no work. While King and his friends worked in shops and on construction sites all over the city, he spent his days with producing and writing music, in the evening they sat down and continued to work on their ideas. "We just had fun, we didn't think about publishing them," laughs Paddy, but then we suddenly had two songs that we really liked, and we decided that people wanted them '. Back in Ireland followed months of investigations and the uncertainty, which would happen next. It was precisely this uncertainty that made him finally publish music. "I didn't know what would happen and I always wanted to publish music, so I thought: 'Why not'," he explains. "If I hadn't got sick, we would probably have been waiting and who did not publish the songs, and who knows where we would be. The music was a great help," he adds, "I don't know what I would have done without the music." Shortly afterwards, her debut project "Neon Palm Trees" followed, a genre mix without borders. And with "Catching Eyes" in April 2020 it went through the ceiling: the electric pop banger collected over 10 million streams on Spotify and catapulted the two into completely new spheres. Since then, 49th & Main have been on the road to success and have released collaborations with artists such as Sarah Carton, Khakikid, Landis and Chameleon. "It is surreal, it has not yet really arrived that this is a career," the two laugh at the recent announcements, "but it is really exciting. It is really cool and we can hardly wait to get started."
