About event
In January 1985, the ensemble Agon performed for the first time under this name in the hall of the Municipal Library in Prague with the compositions of its founders Petr Kofron, Miroslav Pudlak, Martin Smolka and George
Crumba. Over time, the name Agon Ensemble (until 1994), later in connection with the greater occupation of Agon Orchestra (yet). Beauty present. There is no self -esteem, academic, starch, or snobbism, which unfortunately does not have a significant part of the so -called contemporary classical music. He is unorthodox openness. Without prejudice, it uses the most diverse instrumental means: in his work we hear industrial Řachy, rock rhythm (but without which the orchestra can do without the listener feel insufficiently significant rhythmic aspects, which is remarkable…), breaths, loops, keyboard instruments, etc. We perceive the influence of jazz, folklore, minimalism and rock. Syrovost, brutality and lyric. Today, rather irritating term postmodern is a cover for any slurry; At Agon, however, we see its successful form. /Marek Počestný, Babylon/
Music: Ivan Acher, Marko Ivanović, Petr Kofroň, Michal Nejtek and Petr Wajsar on lyrics Ivan Jirous, Filip Topol and Pavel Zajíček. Ivan Bierhanzl
The project is created with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, the Czech Music Fund Foundation and the OSA Foundation.
